"The only way there will be a charter school in DeSoto County is if the local school board, the majority of the five school board members, vote to allow one," said Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves, the Senate's presiding officer who has described charter schools as much needed education reform. "I would suggest to you it might make sense for a large school district like DeSoto County to do so. Maybe it's a charter school focused on science and technology, maybe it's a charter school focused on the arts, maybe it's a charter school focused on music. There's a lot of options."
